Professor
NO Sung Hwan of the Japanese Department of University of Ulsan in Korea had
been visiting scholar of IEAS since September 2016. On 24 February 2017, a
farewell dinner was held before he left to re-assume his professor position
with University of Ulsan.
Looking
back, working as a team with the faculty of IEAS, Professor No Sung Hwan much
has been accomplished for IEAS with his overwhelming support of Korean language
education for postgraduate students and original academic researches. He
improved both the research and teaching of IEAS in order to remain a leading
research institute in East Asian studies in China. He presented his research
findings at leading universities in China, including Renmin University of
China, Tsinghua University and Beijing Foreign Studies University. Professor No
also had field researches in various areas in China. He virtually shared his
experiences and findings from these field trips with IEAS, thereby showing
divergent understandings of the potentials for original researches in new
academic fields and more robust approaches to enhance IEAS’s academic
excellence.
Professor No’s visit
promotes the exchange of ideas, research, mutual enrichment and linkages
between IEAS and the Japanese Department of University of Ulsan. IEAS takes this
opportunity to thank Professor No’s academic advice, help
and support during the past six months and to wish him every academic success
in the future.
