On 31 March 2017, Professor Dixon Wong
Heung Wah, Program Director of the Global Creative Industries Program of Hong
Kong University and Guest Professor of Zhejiang Gongshang University, visited
IEAS and delivered a guest lecture on Globalization
of Japanology in China. Professor Wong considered that China has never been more mature than today for academic internationalization and that this
process will be even more accelerated in the future. The slow
internationalization of Japanese studies in China is primarily due to the
universal dimension of English language barrier, but also to more pragmatic
factors such as uncommon approach of multidisciplinary research and some
intrinsic values in China. Professor Wong suggested increasing international
visibility of Chinese academic researches by translation, thereby developing
cross cultural competencies of the researches conducted by Chinese scholars.
Professor Dixon Wong Heung Wah also took
this very precious chance to discuss co-operation with IEAS on the study and
research of global creative industries and selection of IEAS graduates to study
doctoral degree at Hong Kong University.
