From 20 to 30 April 2017, Dean WANG Yong, Professor Chen Xiaofa, Office Administrator Madam XUE Xiaomei and IEAS students had a cultural tour in Japan under the sponsorship of Umeda Yoshimi Foundation. All students have never been to Japan and several have traveled outside of China. It is hard to overstate how positive this experience is for them. It was inspiring and an opportunity to visit Japanese education institutions and cultural heritages. Umeda Yoshimi Foundation has supported this tour for many years in order to encourage greater understanding of IEAS students about Japan and to foster and ongoing academic interest by providing experiences with unique Japanese culture.
Under the leadership of Dean WANG Yong and Professor CHEN Xiaofa, the study tour acquainted all the participants with Japanese society, historical and cultural heritages through a wide range of site visits in Honshu ad Kyushu, including Kansai, Kanto, Fukuoka and Nagasaki. The tour focused in Japanese historical sites and cultural visits to help IEAS students have a better understanding of Japan socioculturally. The tour provided the precious chance to connect IEAS students with Japanese history both formally and informally. The tour this year added a visit to Nagasaki and offered the tour participants the opportunity to visit the China Town there.
With the sponsorship of Umeda Yoshimi Foundation, the intensive Umeda Yoshimi Foundation Tour is an annual event of IEAS and a highlight of the year, which has given IEAS students a thorough understanding of Japan as a society and culture. From the sightseeing picture of Japan as an island nation throughout history, down to the specific quality of Japanese life today, now IEAS students have significant touchstones, well placed across the spectrum from where they can begin an in depth study and exploration with the sociocultural and historical aspect of Japan.
This was one of the most amazing travel and learning experiences that IEAS students can receive during theirstudy here. All participants of the Ueda Yoshimi Foundation Tour are still processing the experiences and knowledge they can share with their classmates and professors. This experience is going to be a great addition to their classroom lecture and to several social studiesclasses.Students who completed the UmedaYoshimi Foundation Tour are not only exposed to cultural experience, they will be unwrapping all the information acquired from this tour for a long time and look forward to matching the material, pictures, and experiences with their future academic researches.
Thanks so much for the great sponsorship of Umeda Yoshimi Foundation !
