An academic symposium of East Asian studies and creative industries was held at IEAS after Professor WONG Heung Wah Dixon, the Director of Global Creative Industries Program of the University of Hong Kong, hosted official inauguration ceremony of Hangzhou Workstation of the Global Creative Industries Program of the University of Hong Kong at the third floor of IEAS on 16 June 2017. This is a fruitful result and a milestone in the long history of academic cooperation between IEAS and the University of Hong Kong. One of the core missions of this Hangzhou Workstation is to advance the understanding and research of creative industries and explore its relevance to the contemporary Hangzhou and other cities in Zhejiang.
In the academic symposium, Professor Wong Heung Wah Dixon presented a seminar on Tse Siu Luen as a case study of creativity in luxury conspicuous consumption. He then held the Wang Ren Oversea Study Scholarship donation ceremony. This scholarship is committed to helping master graduates of IEAS to study abroad, especially doctoral study at the University of Hong Kong.
