Promotion of flourishing philosophy, humanities and social sciences is an important component of Zhejiang Provincial Government's academic strategy towards becoming a world-class leader in philosophy and social sciences of Chinese characteristics. Zhejiang Provincial Government's support for philosophy and social sciences research provides favorable circumstances for the academic development of it to become domestic leading position. After two-month assessment, Zhejiang Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences Circles designated IEAS as a Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Zhejiang Province (Category A) on 28 November 2017 ( http://www.zjskw.gov.cn/tzgg/12752.jhtml ).
IEAS, founded in Zhejiang and devoted to East Asian studies in global perspective, is formally recognized as a pioneer institution and nexus of East Asia-related research, teaching, outreach and global exchange across Zhejiang Province. IEAS is home to one of the most distinguished East Asian Studies programs in Zhejiang Province.
