Publications
IEAS has a vibrant research culture,
with faculty members actively engaged in research and publication at high
international level of academic excellence. Under the leadership of academic
committee and the base director of Key Research Base for Philosophy and Social
Science in Zhejiang Province, IEAS runs East Asian History and Culture Research
Center, East Asian International Relation Research Center and East Asian
Economy and Trade Research Center, publishes East Asian Matrix quarterly working papers and Think
Tank Bulletin occasional newsletter which provides regular commentary
report regarding current East Asia related events through a more collaborative
and comparative perspective. IEAS annually assesses five philosophy and social
sciences research projects in Zhejiang Province and runs twenty research
initiatives that involve faculty and graduate students in projects on topics
central to the East Asian region. This provides precious synergies and chances
for training our graduate students to become significant part of a wider
research community on East Asia involving specialists in different academic
fields.
Unique among similar research institutes
in China, more than ten East Asia series, one hundred scholarly monographs, and
well integrated volumes of over six hundred scholarly articles on topics
dealing with East Asia are published as a service to the academic community and
the general public worldwide. Nearly half of these scholarly works are written
in foreign languages. Our publications are informative in an academic context.
We have a proud record of external recognition through awards bestowed by
bodies in China and Asia. The available representative example of our
prize-winning publications is as follows:
History of Exchange of Chinese Books Between China and Japan edited by Professor Wang Yong
(First Runner-up of Outstanding Humanities and Social Sciences Research awarded
by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China )
Given the preeminence of Professor WANG
Yong in the academic field of bitan, the research project of East
Asian Bitan Literature and
Studies spearheaded by him was designated to be a key national research project
by the National Social Science Foundation. This is unprecedented in the history
of Zhejiang Gongshang University. Since 2006, our full-time faculty members had
conducted more than sixty research projects, including six at the national
level and ten at provincial level. In 2011, the project of Research on Chinese
Classics Outside China under the simultaneous key financial auspices of
Zhejiang Province and Japan Foundation generated strong impact on the East
Asian academic field.
In 2015, the Li Dai
Zheng Shi Ri Ben Zhuang Kao Zhu (历代正史日本传考注Glossary

Dynastic History) of five volumes
illustriously
edited by Professor Wang Yong was on the list

relations. Two IEAS Professors, Dr Wang Yong and Dr Chen Xiaofa, are illustriously appointed
