IEAS encourages students to take advantage of the many study abroad chances available inJapan and Korea. Most IEAS students find it an ideal way to achieve advanced Japanese or Korean language proficiency while experiencing first-hand the Japanese or Korean cultural context in a valuable global perspective. Students attending IEAS-affiliated study abroad programs enrolled at IEAS while abroad. IEAS has streamlined process of recommending graduates of our programs to be accepted directly into the doctoral programs of Kanagawa University and Kansai University.
To promote academic exchange and to enable its research findings to reach out to a wider segment of East Asia, IEAS also strives to attract and nurture outstanding scholars in East Asia studies from around the world through knowledge exchange. We also encourage IEAS faculty members to have knowledge exchange abroad under agreements with partner universities in Japan and Korea, which include Waseda University, Kansai University,Kanagawa University, University of Seoul, Inha University, Dankook University and Kangwon National University.
IEAS also has close academic exchange with universities and research institutes in Japan, Korea and the United States, such as Tokyo University, Kyoto University, Nihon University, Hosei University, International Research Center for Japanese Studies, National Institute of Japanese Literature,Yonsei University, Korea University, the Academy of Korean Studies, National Institute of Korean History, Kangwon Institute of Koreanology and Columbia University. Professors of IEAS actively participate in joint research projects, promote collaborative programs in the region as well as organize regional and international conferences on East Asian issues.
